The most known generic TLD includes .com, .net, .biz, .org and .info – they can be registered anywhere by anyone in the world. However, some of the newly released gTLD has many restrictions.
Country Code Top-Level Domains
Two letter domains set for geographic locations; for example; .au shows Australia. Originally nominated, only a resident of a country can register their respective CCTLDs; But in the last few years, some countries have allowed parties outside their coast to register website names. An example of this is Tuvalu.
In the case of .au domain names, strict rules are still present and this is a good thing. For example, the registrar of .com.au should still be Australian or must register business interests in Australia. Subdomain
Part of the high ranking domain name in the DNS hierarchy; example.domainregistration.com.au.
Some services provide subdomain “registration” – but this is usually not ideal for businesses and perhaps a commercial website should be avoided because the registrar of the upper hierarchy name has to control the address. Placing your name can also help with reliability.
